A Scary Thought    Volume 1, Issue 11
   December 20, 2001

Statistics show that during the holiday time from Christmas through New Year’s Day, the average individual gains 2–10 Pounds!! To me this is a scary thought! We all pretty much consider ourselves average don’t we? Where will we put another 2–10 pounds, when we have been wrestling with an increased girth and love handles that already bulge over our beltlines? Well, there is no magic pill, but there is a way to counteract this sneak obese attack. You can eat what you want, BUT, you must remember the “P” word -- which stands for the all-important portions. Take whatever little delight you wish, then eat only 1/3 and share the rest with a companion. Also, before taking a bite, pause to the count of five, then take a bite,  all the while remembering "portions”.
Drinking a glass of water when you first arrive at an event also deters your appetite and prevents you from initially overeating as often happens when people first arrive at holiday gatherings.

Remember, you are accountable for yourself. You should not eat any meal larger than the size of your hand and you

should NOT skip any meals.

If for some reason the Obese Bug bites you during the holidays, E-mail me at this website and we can talk!

Happy Holidays and May God Bless America!
